GMTogether
A downloadable tool for Windows
Quick links: Documentation · Supported games · Discord server
GMTogether is a tool that introduces online multiplayer support into a large variety of games made with GameMaker: Studio and GameMaker Studio 2.
It is low-bandwidth, low-latency, unbiased, and is all-around the closest you can get to automagically adding online multiplayer to a game. In a way, the ultimate successor to my online multiplayer mods.
Donations
If you are willing to spare $3 or more, you get a small set of goodies:
- 2 (TWO)* Steam keys for the Steam build of GMT.
This version is by all means identical to the regular build (which is added as free/demo on this same page), but it can use Steam P2P services to save you from having to port-forward - instead you host a lobby and invite a friend to it.
If a game uses Steam API, GMT will seamlessly use the game's API integration. If a game does not use Steam API, GMT will use its own App ID.
... actually that's it for now. The eventual intent is to have a small bundle of various 2P mini-games and prototypes that I worked on over years, but, you know - one thing at a time.
If you have previously donated >=$3 via the blog tip jar, send me a message; the page can still be used for smaller donations (as itch.io seemingly lacks a fitting mechanism for what I'm doing here).
Reminder: The non-Steam version is freely available for download under "demo" section on this same page.
